2018 bmw x3 specs

BMW brings an entirely new version of its popular compact SUV to the market this year, and it can not come at a better time. Not just U.S. buyers who is doing hot-on-fire for a vague SUV or crossover lately, but German rivals Mercedes-Benz and Audi also have new and excellent products in this class (as well as Volvo).

My X3 xDrive30i represents most of what BMW is doing well lately, which means a full complement of tech and safety features, along with an exciting powertrain and slow driving dynamics. You can buy a sporty little sporty vehicle over the X3, but it’s just (and more money).

2018 BMW X3  Design & Exterior

What to say about this two-box shape? I think it mimics BMW’s stable design language now, thought out without the cheeky proportions of the Series 2, or the machismo of the larger X5.

I love the sharp detail of the bodysides and the surface, but can not help but think that the nose grille and bigigish grille make the X3 look a bit like a boy wearing his father’s jacket coat.

2018 BMW X3  Interior & Comfort

X3 scored big points for comfort and seat adjustments here, with multi position seats that can support a wide variety of body shapes and sizes. As always, customized thigh support and bolsters make a big difference to be larger than average and smaller than the average driver.
With that said, X3 is not the most spacious SUV on the market. Missing points for back seats and relatively small cargo areas.

2018 BMW X3  Technology & Connectivity

Remember when the term “iDrive” was used to arouse the anger of your gearhead friend? Those days are long gone, and the latest version of the infotainment system, iDrive 6, is the best in the business. Combine that software with high resolution and bright screens, and you have a first class classroom technology experience for most buyers.

BMW still does not want to play ball with Android Auto, leaving the bulkhead of smartphone users in the cold. What’s more, Apple CarPlay is an additional cost option, which feels more than a little behind the time for the newly revamped model, with bleeding edge infotainment.

2018 BMW X3  Performance & Handling

You will not find this SUV side Porsche badge with many rudders or the ability to drive the driver to difficult corners. But X3 is fine in the more normal daily usage spectrum. The handling is crisp and stable at speed, but without much of the hard road goes into the cabin.

Powertrain also does not bend. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder kicked 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, pushing a small ute up to 60 miles per hour in about six seconds. The very fast shift from an eight-speed automatic gearbox helps the driver, as he demands, but is more than willing to go down into the background all the time.

2018 BMW X3  Safety features

Our safety score relies heavily on advanced safety features, which have a lot of ’18 X3. Automatic emergency locking and active drive tools are all available as part of the Premium Package, while the Parking Assistance package is added with a 3D surround-view camera system, and more.

Sure, you have to make $ 4,600 for two lists of old features and technologies, but it’s not an unreasonable price to pay for some of your thoughts, especially in the luxury segment.
Running Cost & Fuel Economy

With a small turbocharged engine and a transmission with many ratios, BMW is right in the hunt for the top gallon rankings per gallon in the larger SUV world. Hitting the magical 30 mpg is hard work for non-hybrids here, so the 29th X3 highway and 22 city rankings deserve respect.

2018 BMW X3  Price

Ahh, Achilles heels from so many German vehicles … sticker prices. X3 starting from $ 42,450 and the last option including my test car price is $ 57,620. Those numbers, of course, fit the so-called competitors for their small SUVs, however, more than buyers who are willing (or able) to afford them.

However, if you are looking for the luxury of a daily dose, and do not really need the cargo or carrying capacity of a larger utility vehicle, there is definitely a bad thing to spend your money on.
